What is love? This programme is a celebration of love in all its forms, where poetry and song gently mingle together to explore the complexity of this affection. From John Dowland to William Shakespeare, the music conveys a message as relevant today as it was 400 years ago.
Amarylli came together through a passion for the music of the 16th and 17th centuries. The repertoire of this period is rich and varied and very expressive, and lends itself to the crafting of each song into a unique shape that goes beyond the material on the printed page. Inspired by this, they have developed their own unique concert style, weaving together songs, poetry and readings to express emotion and tell stories.
