Tripadvisor Traveller Rating
1467 reviewsA strikingly beautiful four star hotel, set in 17 acres of peaceful and secluded grounds on the shores of Lake Windermere - a location specifically chosen for its spectacular views along England’s largest lake to the central mountains.
Storrs retains its unspoilt elegant original architecture and period details, the grand proportions and extensive grounds are perfectly relaxing even without leaving the grounds – though adventure seekers can book activities right from our private jetty.
The accommodation is enhanced by a period stone Boathouse with a huge private terrace furnished with seating, sun loungers, hot tub and fire pit. Having its own private keycode for access it is the ultimate luxurious getaway, with cossetingly plush interiors, including a steam room in the bathroom.
The newest additions are the 6 Lakeside Suites, each open plan space has a private terrace with Japanese style cedar hot tub looking out over the lake, or to the woodland they sit in. All rooms offer unstinting comfort and modern facilities, with living flame fireplaces and indulgently luxurious bathrooms to enhance your stay with us.
Dining at Storrs is all about pleasure and indulgence, with two menus to choose from; either the fixed price menu in The 1797 Restaurant, facing south down Windermere; or our relaxed and contemporary Bistro. All our food is lovingly produced in our kitchens from seasonal local produce where possible – great ingredients exceptionally well cooked. Resident guests also have the choice of a lighter lounge menu, and our room service menu.
The cherry on the cake is Abigail Leah – a vintage Thames Slipperlaunch, which can be commissioned for a private skippered lake cruise.
We provide free off road and private parking for all our guests, and 8 Monta EV recharging points.
