Aspatria is a small town in the North West of Cumbria, situated within the area known as the Western Lake District between Maryport and Wigton. Sitting above the Ellen river valley, Aspatria is on the main route between Maryport and Carlisle, and is also serviced by the local train & bus companies. It is central for Carlisle, Keswick & Cockermouth and an ideal base for exploring the Western Lake District.
The town is best known for its church of St Kentigern, which contains a number of ancient relics.
From Carlisle take the A596 towards Maryport. Aspatria is after Wigton, the A596 goes through the town.
