National Landscapes in Cumbria

National Landscapes, previously known as Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB), are nationally protected landscapes of special importance. Perhaps unsurprisingly, given the stunning landscape of the Lake District and Cumbria, there are no less than three National Landscapes in Cumbria, each supported by a Partnership which manages the future of these areas, working with others to conserve and enhance the unique landscape, natural, wildlife and historic character of each landscape.

Arnside & Silverdale National Landscape

Sitting just south of the Lake District this is an extraordinary place, famous for its amazing wildlife, stunning scenery, and superb walks.
Solway Coast National Landscape

The Solway Coast National Landscape is a breathtaking stretch of coastline located in the northwest of Cumbria, stretching into the southwest of Scotland.
