Steeped in history, The Royal Oak, Borrowdale has been around for nearly 300 years - formerly a farmhouse and a miner’s tavern, we have been providing accommodation for over a century.

The new owners have created a stylish and contemporary, yet homely and charming place to stay. Extended and totally refurbished throughout, they have respectfully recognised its character and setting in the valley and have thought of everything, including a drying room and boot warmers.

We have doorstep access to the best display of fell walking in the country with walks and activities for all levels of fitness. Let your adventures begin!
