Tripadvisor Traveller Rating
377 reviewsThere’s something quite special about being on England’s largest lake, and to see the surrounding landscape from the water provides a different perspective. Why not allow us show off Windermere on board our BRIG Navigator. Our usual RIB (Rigid Inflatable Boat) tours start and finish on the shore of Graythwaite Estate, on Lake Windermere. The one-hour tour is an exclusive charter for your group, accommodating 1 to 9 passengers.
Booked for the hour and once underway your skipper will stop periodically to tell tales of gun powder plots and the estate’s history whilst pointing out places of interest on the western shore before crossing the route of the Mallard, Lake Windermere’s 500-year-old ferry route whilst circumnavigating the largest of the Lake’s islands, Belle Isle. You’ll head back via Bowness Bay along the eastern shore where you’ll see some of the most enviable properties and their lake frontage gardens, passing the Temple of The Heroes and the arts and crafts architecture of the famous Windermere Motor Boat Racing Club.
Our RIB boat trip is a blend of sightseeing, stories and fun on the water and is often the highlight of many of our guests’ visit to the Lake District. Please note that we must respect the lake’s 10mph speed limit but that doesn’t in any way remove the fun from the experience. Well, maybe just a tiny bit if you’re a thrill-seeker!
Guests to Graythwaite Adventure can enjoy a variety of other awesome experiences; 4x4 off-road driving, clay pigeon shooting, archery, axe throwing and bushcraft all year round. Please note, RIB boat tours are offered April to October.

Itinerary
Upon arrival at the lake shore (we’ll share directions with your confirmation) make use of our free parking before meeting with one of our team. Following introductions, we’ll kit you out with life jackets before jumping onboard. Typically, we journey from Graythwaite Estate along the west shore to Bowness on Windemere to Belle Isle and back along the east shore. All you need to do is arrive, sit back and enjoy. All with all our experiences, this will be private for you and your guests (up to 9 of you) as we never mix bookings. Bookable as a 1-hour experience but please feel free to ask if you’d like longer.
