You are here: Home > Things to Do > River Rawthey and River Dee
Sedbergh is at the confluence of two Dales rivers, the River Rawthey and the River Dee. Along their banks the scenery is a classic mixture of stone walls, fields, picturesque farms and houses surrounded by intimate fells. A network of paths, including the famous Dales Way, lead straight out of the centre of Sedbergh and can be linked up to form a fine little walk that explores the fascinating sights and sounds on offer.
There are lots of route variants but a good starting point is to head out from the village to Birks and Abbot Holme and then follow the River Dee to Rash Bridge from where a brief ascent over the Frostrow Fells gives delightful views down to Sedbergh. Following the Dales Way along banks of the River Rawthey rounds the walk off nicely.
