Ulverston International Music Festival - more than classical
From 2004 Ulverston International Music Festival has been wowing audiences by bringing world class artists many of whom are friends together to play. The result is a series of performances which are somehow intimate, informal and yet of an extraordinarily high quality. All in our beautiful corner of the Lake District.
Our main Festival takes place in early June. We also run an Autumn/ Winter Series of concerts and an Education Programme.
This year we’re celebrating the Festival’s 20th Anniversary, from 31 May - 9 June 2024 with twenty-four concerts, in twelve locations, in ten days, which means - more live music, in more locations and as we say in our strap line more than classical.
For Festival goers who enjoy variety we offer - classical, ukelele, jazz, choral, baroque, light opera, tango, food, outdoor and children’s events. And to experience that festival buzz you’ll find events happening at different times of the day and night.
We have added some amazing new venues to the Festival’s hub, The Coro, Ulverston; including heritage attractions: Brantwood, Coniston; Cartmel Priory, Cartmel; Levens Hall, Levens; and the concert hall, Victoria Hall, Grange-over-Sands.
Festival highlights include performances by orchestras The Royal Northern Sinfonia, & The Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain; jazz group The Dave Bristow Quintet; pianists Anthony Hewitt, Martin Roscoe, & Daniel Lebhardt; violinist Jennifer Pike; cellist Maja Bogdanović; string quartets Arethusa Quartet and Animato Quartet;Britain; opera company The Charles Court Opera and choir The Ulverston Festival Chorus.
Experience some wonderful live music, in fantastic locations, creating memories which will last the next 20 years and beyond!
