- Sekers Sewing Circles Cinema at Rosehill Theatre, various dates | At Whitehaven’s award-winning Rosehill Theatre, combine crafts with cinema as part of their Sekers Objects exhibition this February. Gather in the theatre’s unique auditorium and enjoy films including The Inn of the Sixth Happiness and My Fair Lady while focusing on your own creations. - Valentine’s Romantic Dinner in a Castle, 14 Feb | This Valentine's Day, indulge in an unforgettable evening of romance and elegance with a Valentine’s Day Candlelit Dinner at Muncaster Castle, complete with drinks reception and live musical accompaniment. £75 per person.
- Another Mister at The Barrel House, 14 Feb | Put on your dancing shoes and head to The Barrel House for an evening of live music this Valentine’s Day. The Kendal based venue welcomes female trio Another Mister to the stage: they’ll be playing an eclectic mix of covers and originals, with their unique blend of bass, guitar, and keyboard, plus lush three-part harmonies. 8:30pm on Friday 14, free entry.

- Alfred Wainwright Exhibition at The Armitt Museum, 12 Feb - 20 Dec | Delve into the life and legacy of fellwalker, guidebook author and illustrator Alfred Wainwright at The Armitt Museum in Ambleside. Running throughout the year, the exhibition will offer an unparalleled exploration of Wainwright’s publishing journey, offering deeper insight into his love for the great outdoors and the works it inspired. Entry to the museum is £7 for adults, £4 for students, free for under 16s
- February Half Term at Go Ape, Grizedale | Adventure amidst the trees at Go Ape, Grizedale this February half term. Whether you're a thrill seeker or simply after some quality time with friends and family, there’s something for everyone with rope ladders, tricky crossings and iconic ziplines.
- 2 Day Navigation Courses with Hiking Highs, various dates | Begin your navigation journey or improve on existing skills with professionally designed and delivered courses from Hiking Highs on behalf of the National Navigation Award Scheme. Beginner, Intermediate and Advanced courses are available, with practical training included so you’ll get a real feel for the outdoors.
Dark Skies
Did you know? Cumbria has some of the darkest skies in the country! Experience their magical wonder at stargazing events across the area this winter.
- Dark Skies walks at Whinlatter Forest, 1 Feb & 29 March | Marvel at the wonder of the night sky with stargazing walks at the peaceful Whinlatter Forest. Covering around 3 – 4 miles of trails, you’ll be led by an amateur astronomer and star maps and guides will be on hand to help you spot the constellations. Tickets from £15.
- Stargazing at Fell Foot, 1 Feb | Enjoy an evening spent learning about the universe and stargazing on the shores of Windermere at the National Trust’s Fell Foot. Explore the wonders of the night sky as astronomy experts take you on a whistle stop tour of the universe on the big screen. Then, weather permitting, you’ll have the chance to head outdoors and get hands on with telescopes and binoculars. For those with younger children, there's a family session between 5:30pm – 7pm.
- Community Dark Skies Night at Allan Bank, 28 March | To celebrate the Grasmere Switch Off, which sees the Lakeland village turn off its lights to highlight our dark skies, Allan Bank will be open after dark to allow visitors to enjoy the stars above. This is a free event, with bookings open for 1 hour slots between 8pm – 11pm.
Film & TV
The Lake District, Cumbria is the star of the show, with several films and TV dramas featuring our landscapes and businesses. Get inspired with film & tv events.
- Mint Chinese Film Festival, 21 – 23 Feb | Now in its third year, the MINT Chinese Film Festival brings over 30 of the best Chinese and Asian films to Keswick. As well as film screenings, there will be a festival gala, movie premieres, director Q&As and a curatorial workshop. Plus, an outdoor Asian Arts & Craft market alongside plenty of cultural activities – think musical performances, a lion dance, lakeside walks and more.
- Keswick Film Festival, 6 - 9 March | Keswick Film Festival celebrates its 25th anniversary in 2025, with its biggest ever line up of global films - including 2025’s Golden Globe Best Drama Film, The Brutalist. Taking place at venues around the Lakeland town of Keswick, Keswick Film Festival is a celebration of independent cinema, shining a spotlight on a vibrant collection films and shorts from around the world as well as right here in Cumbria. Expect everything from gritty dramas to family movies, animations to short films. Screenings take place in often quirky and historical settings, including Theatre by the Lake, Keswick Alhambra and Rheged. Tickets are on sale now.
