Cartmel is the home of Sticky Toffee - it’s something we’re very proud of, just as we are of our 12th century Priory, and the racecourse which runs straight past our Village Shop.
Here is where Cartmel Sticky Toffee Pudding was born – we started baking in the back kitchen of our Village Shop over 30 years ago. Word soon got out, and it seemed like everyone wanted some, so we had to move to a bigger kitchen. But however busy we become, it’s still handmade in small batches by a dedicated team who share our passion for puddings, and there’s still nothing to match it. That’s why Cartmel is the home of Sticky Toffee.
We are a small, family-owned business based in the South Lakes area of Cumbria. Our customers include farm shops, delicatessens and speciality food retailers throughout the country, as well as Booths and Waitrose supermarkets.
Our puddings contain 100% natural ingredients with no preservatives, many sourced from the same local suppliers that we found when we started making Sticky Toffee Pudding all those years ago. We have been declared a ‘Food Hero’ by Rick Stein, and a lot of well-known people have said extremely nice things about our puddings, including Nigella Lawson, Jean-Christophe Novelli and Anthony Worrall Thompson.
Please be aware that our puddings need to be kept in the refrigerator once received, and have a chilled shelf life of between 8 and 12 days for the Apple Crumble and Lemon Drizzle, and 4 to 6 weeks for the Sticky Puddings.
We offer take-away options, hot drinks, sandwiches, and more - and of course ‘hot-to-go’ puddings!
