We are registered under the General Data Protection Regulations as a data controller, under registration number Z5126632. INFORMATION THAT WE COLLECT FROM YOU AND HOW WE USE IT
When you use the Visit Lake District website you may submit information to us for the following reasons:
• Entering a prize draw or competition
• Requesting a holiday guide
• Contacting us using our contact page form or online chat
• Using our travel planner
ENTERING A PRIZE DRAW OR COMPETITION
We run several prize draws and competitions throughout the year on visitlakedistrict.com, in association with our business partners who offer the prizes. The name of the competition partner(s) are always clearly stated on the entry page. With every prize draw or competition we offer through the site, options are provided to allow you to choose whether your contact email may to be used by Cumbria Tourism/Visit Lake District and/or the prize partner to contact you directly with news, special offers and marketing emails. You can choose whom you would like to share your contact email with at the time of entering the prize draw or competition.
REQUESTING A HOLIDAY GUIDE
When requesting a holiday guide through the Visit Lake District website, your contact details are entered into our secure database for the purposes of sending you the requested guide through the post. We use a third-party distribution company for sending the guides and will share your details with this company purely for the purposes of sending out the guides. This company have signed a data processing agreement with Cumbria Tourism to only use your details for this purpose and to store and handle them in compliance with our privicy policy and all current data protection regulations. Cumbria Tourism and/or the distribution company will not use your details for any other reason than to send you the requested guide, unless you sign up to receive e-newsletters from us at the time of ordering your holiday guide.
CONTACTING US USING OUR CONTACT PAGE FORM
When you contact us using our contact page, your name and email address are sent to Cumbria Tourism along with your request. We will use your details only to help you with your enquiry and only will forward your enquiry to the relevant Visit Lake District business advertiser if the enquiry contains a request relating to that business. We will never share or sell your contact details with any other third party.
USING OUR TRAVEL PLANNER
I consent to my travel plan data being used by Cumbria Tourism and You.Smart.Thing. for the purposes of analysing travel behaviour to help promote sustainable travel. If I have registered for updates to my travel plan, I agree to my details being held by Cumbria Tourism and You.Smart.Thing. for the purposes of sending travel updates to me. My personal data will not be shared with any other organisations.
USE OF YOUR INFORMATION
We will hold your information securely and use it only in compliance with the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR 2018) and the privacy and electronic communications regulations. We will use your information to provide you with the products and any information that you have requested. We may also use the information we collect for research and profiling purposes so that we can administer, support, improve and develop our business and website offer.
DISCLOSURE OF YOUR INFORMATION
The only parties to whom we may disclose your information are as follows:
The proprietors or assigned booking staff contact of the properties to which you have submitted a booking request
Our employees who process the information for the purposes for which you have made it available to us
Our suppliers, partners, advisers and auditors who may have incidental or necessary access to your information in the process of providing services to us, however they will be obliged to treat your information as confidential in compliance with GDPR 2018.
Unless required to do so by law, we will not otherwise share, sell or distribute any of the information you provide to us without your consent.
TRANSFERS OF DATA
Although information that you submit to us by email or through on-line booking enquiry service on this website may, incidentally in the course of transmission, be transferred outside the European Economic Area (EEA) we will not otherwise transfer your information outside the EEA.
