Derwentwater Marina is a busy Marina on Derwentwater offering boat hire, tuition, watersports shop & chandlery, berthing, boat sales and self-catering apartments.
Hiring a boat is the perfect way to get out & explore Derwent Water. Choose from our huge selection of crafts to hire - go Paddle Boarding, Kayaking, Canoeing, Rowing or a Pedalo. Whether you fancy exploring the islands or shoreline with a group of friends or with your family we’ve something for everyone. If you would like advice about what to hire, please get in touch to discuss options. You can check availability and book via our website.
Paddle Boards (SUP)
Stand Up Paddleboards (SUP) are the most popular craft we hire. Our Red boards are top of the range, with a variety of models available. You can paddle them standing or kneeling - it’s fun either way. Wetsuits and buoyancy aids are included in the hire fee.
Single and Double Sit-On Kayaks
Sit-on kayaks are easy-to-use and an ideal choice for exploring the lake, whether on your own in a single or with a friend or child in a double. Stable and easy to use, they have a moulded seat and footrests with a simple backrest. Doubles can also be paddled by one adult making it a great choice for anyone who is looking for a boat with higher capacity.
Single and Double Sit-In Kayaks
Our fleet of modern kayaks are great fun to use & ideal for exploring Derwent Water. We have a mixture of ‘Dagger Katana 9.7s’, ‘Venture Flex’ and ‘Isla’ kayaks.
Canoes
Canoes are a popular boat for exploring the lake - perfect for taking a picnic and visiting an island or the beautiful shoreline along Derwent Water. We have a fleet of modern ‘Venture’ canoes which are fitted with extra buoyancy. Canoes are paddled using a single bladed paddle.
Family Canoes
Our larger ‘family’ canoes can take up to 4 adults or a mix of adults and children. Fitted with two buoyancy chambers they are perfect for exploring and a family picnic on an island or on the beautiful shoreline along Derwent Water. Canoes are paddled using a single bladed paddle.
Pedalos
Great fun for all the family - two of you pedal and steer the boat with a simple joystick control. Because of the stability of this craft & the open space at the front this is a popular choice for people with young children.
Rowing Boats
The classic boat of the Lake District remains a firm favourite, perfect for couples & families. Pack up a picnic and have a great time exploring Derwent Water.
Tuition and Taster Sessions
We also offer tuition in Sailing, Windsurfing, Paddle boarding, Canoeing and Kayaking. Please contact us for further information and prices.
