Lake Cruises on Derwentwater
A cruise on Derwentwater is a very special way of discovering the Northern Lake District. Enjoy a lake cruise on one of the Keswick Launches and experience the beauty of Derwentwater with breathtaking views of the surrounding fells. Enjoy special views of Skiddaw, England’s fourth highest mountain, Catbells, and the ‘Jaws of Borrowdale’.
Take the 50 minute round boat trip or disembark at one of the eight jetties en-route and take a lakeland walk via well-marked paths to famous landmarks such as Ashness Bridge, Lodore Falls, Grange in Borrowdale, Brandelhow and Lingholm, holiday home of Beatrix Potter.
Hop on and off to enjoy a walk. Our four launches have open and covered decks and operate on a regular timetable throughout the year. Private launch hire is available for special events such as weddings and birthdays. Rowing boats and self-drive motor boats are also available to hire, so you can explore the lake at your own pace.
Also available at Keswick Launch Company
Hire a rowing or motor boat and explore Derwentwater and its islands under your own steam. No boating experience is necessary as we provide full safety instruction and life jackets for everyone on board. Sail around the islands and discover little inlets and beaches as you explore Derwentwater under your own steam by hiring a rowing boat or self drive cabin cruiser motor boat. Hire a family size boat for up to two hours. Large boats to cater for up to 8 adults can be provided.
Park and Sail
Park and Sail involves Keswick Rugby Club’s 200 car parking spaces (including its underused 150 space overspill car park) and users parking there, paying £4 for a day, will receive a voucher. The voucher when presented at the Launch ticket office will attract a 15% discount off the launch services that day for the voucher presenter and up to a maximum of 4 of their passengers.
The Launch Company are now operating a shuttle service to Hawse End at the foot of Cat Bells, in addition to its other services. Users will be able to access the launches by the short walk through Crow Park along the northern shore of Derwent Water.
