Tripadvisor Traveller Rating
1382 reviewsThe Patterdale Hotel sits at the heart of the Patterdale village on the main Penrith to Windermere route. Lying at the Southern tip of Ullswater, one of England’s most beautiful lakes, the village is in a fabulous central position for exploring the Lake District.
Steeped in history, on 16th May 1857 the hotel - then named "Gelderd's Family Hotel" - hosted a two night visit by His Royal Highness Albert Edward, Prince of Wales. To this day, the Patterdale Hotel remains a popular base for both walking and activity holidays, as well as an ideal location for a more relaxing break, offering home-from-home comforts with friendly and attentive service.
Enjoy a three course dinner in our restaurant, then relax over drinks in the West Lounge, with its log fire and spectacular views, before retiring to your bedroom for a restful night's sleep. Each morning the restaurant serves a full Cumbrian breakfast, along with a selection of cereals and fruit, to energise you for the day ahead.
The surrounding areas offer some of the world's most scenic walks and trails, and Keswick, Ambleside and Penrith are all within a 20 minute drive. Close by is the village of Glenridding from where the Ullswater Steamer boat sails to Howtown and Pooley Bridge.
Other local amenities include water sports and sailing schools, lakeside walks, pony treks and climbing schools. For families, a variety of visitor attractions are within a short drive.
