You are here: Home > Explore Cumbria > Access for all > Hiking Household - Free accessible trail maps
The Hiking Household has developed a series of accessible trail maps which are part of a national Live Longer Better Programme, supported by Sport England and delivered by Active Cumbria. It’s aim is to enable increased activity – physical, cognitive and emotional – for people who already have long term conditions, including dementia and frailty.
The trails are easy to access, with regular bus routes available. They offer a range of routes - some short and some slightly longer, with a mixture of terrains. Some of the walks are pram and wheelchair accessible, others require appropriate footwear to manage the mixed terrain. There are multiple places to stop, rest and take in the scenery along the routes. All of the maps highlight benches, and other rest areas, as well as offering ideas on how to improve your physical and mental health by getting outside.
The maps are free to download and are suitable for all ages, young and old! Click on the lnks below to download the maps.
