Ravens Nest is a retro inspired, specialist tea, coffee, and cocktail bar in the heart of Whitehaven. The Vegetarian menu is designed to be treats without the meats, with something for everyone, from small bites to a wide range of platters to satisfy every taste and appetite.
The proprietors, Bex and Neil, have mastered their trade in some of the top award-winning venues in the world, and have now brought the benefit of that background to Whitehaven. Whilst Bex designs and creates exquisite cocktails, bringing contemporary twists to the age-old classics, Neil works his magic as a barista, conjuring up everything from the highest quality coffee, to ice cream matcha’s, real ruby cacao hot chocolates, or something even more exotic, like violet cream, or organic liquorice teas.
Guests can try small bites, like hot nuts, olives, or a bowl of sweet or savoury popcorn, but the real winners at Ravens Nest are the platters. Influenced by the Gulliver’s Travels stories of Jonathon Swift, who lived in Whitehaven as a child, the platters at Ravens Nest come in little, for 1-2 sharing, and large, for 2-4. There’s also the Lilliput, a healthy option for children, featuring a range of crudities, as well as cheese, crisps, popcorn and strawberries and cream (when in season). Then there’s the Gulliver’s itself, an enormous platter, bigger than the table it sits on, a feast for six to share, or up to ten people to eat their fill.
Ravens Nest is about good company, great cocktails, and making fabulous food affordable. Bex and Neil aim to create a fun, friendly and enjoyable experience for all their guests. Their values are quality and sustainability, from the boards for the platters, to the ‘Rave’ coffee that they use, one of the highest quality and most sustainable brands available.
