Section 5 begins in Maryport - head north on the B5300 towards Silloth on the Solway Coast. Wind through the historic towns of Allonby, Abbeytown and Wigton along the way, as you make your way north toward our final stop of Carlisle.
Drive Waypoints
- 1 Head north from Maryport on the B5300 towards the Victorian seaside town of Silloth.
- 2 Continue along the B5300 toward Silloth.
- 3 Stop in at the village of Allonby along the way. A great base for walkers as it's on the Cumbrian Coastal Way!
- 4 Continue along the B5300 toward Silloth.
- 5 Continue along the B5300 toward Silloth.
- 6 Turn left into the centre of Silloth.
- 7 Continue into the centre of Silloth.
- 8 Silloth is a popular leisurely seaside destination. Check out the many quirky cafes, Discovery Centre, and great architecture within the town centre.
- 9 When you are ready to head on, continue along the main road out of Silloth toward the B5302.
- 10 Turn right and continue out of Silloth along the B5302 toward Abbeytown.
- 11 Continue along the B5302 toward Abbeytown.
- 12 Continue along the B5302 toward Abbeytown.
- 13 Continue along the B5302 toward Abbeytown.
- 14 Continue along the B5302 toward Abbeytown.
- 15 Abbeytown has a rich medieval history and was once one of the most important towns in Northern England.
- 16 Head further inland along the B5302 toward Wigton.
- 17 Turn right onto the A596 toward Wigton
- 18 Turn left onto B5302 toward Wigton.
- 19 Continue along the B5302 toward the historic market town of Wigton.
- 20 Arrive in Wigton. Discover the town's fascinating history along the Heritage Trail, or make a detour to the brilliant Watchtree Nature Reserve.
- 21 Once you're ready to leave, head back out of town along the B5302 - finally on toward our last stop of Carlisle!
- 22 Turn left to stay on the B5302.
- 23 Turn right onto the A596 - from here you can rejoin the A595 toward Carlisle.
- 24 Continue along the A596 toward Carlisle.
- 25 Take the second exit onto the A595.
- 26 Continue along the A595 toward Carlisle.
- 27 Continue along the A595 toward Carlisle.
- 28 Finally arrive in the city of Carlisle. There is plenty of camper-friendly parking available, plus the Carlisle Castle and cathedral are well worth a visit.
