To help keep everyone safe and ensure our world-class landscape stays in tip top condition for the benefit of all, always plan ahead, pre-book accommodation and check your route in advance. Also give yourself extra time to get from place to place, particularly during the winter months when weather conditions may be more unpredictable.
It’s easy to book accommodation direct through our official tourist board website visitlakedistrict.com, plus you’ll also be helping small businesses too. You can also search for somewhere to stay and places to go. Don’t forget to visit our What’s On page for upcoming events and exhibitions.

The Lake District, Cumbria is a spacious county and there are countless hidden gems, so it’s a great time to discover new places and find your perfect place to be. Always dispose of waste properly and leave no trace, so those who follow can enjoy the landscape as you found it.
There are also extra resources available for motorhome owners on our ‘Van life’ page, to help people enjoy the county’s scenic highlights without compromising its sensitive landscape. This includes a downloadable accommodation guide, information on waste disposal and a new Motor Caravanners’ Code.
