2021 is the “Year of the Cumbrian Coast” and the Cumbrian Coastal Route, a 200 mile tour has been designed to inspire you to explore this captivating and unique area. The route has been split into five smaller sections, all do-able in a day. However, this would barely be scratching the surface and you could easily fill a few days in each.

Explore sections of the Cumbrian Coastal Route 200

Section 1 - Morecambe Bay - The Foodie Peninsula
Discover the Cumbrian side of Morecambe Bay, taking in some of the foodie destinations that have made this area their home.
Section 2 - Furness Peninsula and Island Hopping
Explore this landscape of contrasts - the soaring red sandstone ruins of Furness Abbey and the industrial heritage of Barrow, all rounded off with a spot of island hopping.
Section 3 - Haverigg to Seascale - Where the Lakes Meet the Sea
Discover the rugged beauty of Cumbria’s coastline in the western part of the Lake District, where the mountains meet the sea.
Section 4 - Seascale to Maryport - The Nordic Coast
Travel further up the West Coast and you get a sense of this area's intriguing past of maritime history, through the ports and harbour towns that grew affluent through trade and tourism.
Section 5 - Maryport to Carlisle- Solway Coast to City Stay
Discover Solway’s outstanding landscapes, diverse habitats and rich heritage, the towns and villages along Hadrian's Wall and then onto the historic city of Carlisle.
