From our striking coastline to our charming towns and villages, it’s no secret that South Lakeland has inspired countless artists and writers over the years – and their legacy lives on in our landscapes today.

Walk in the footsteps of the radical thinkers and artistic pioneers who were inspired by the area. Given the beauty of our landscapes, it may come as no surprise that we also take art into the great outdoors, with pieces to be seen in mountains and forests such as Grizedale, as part of planned exhibitions which work in harmony with the countryside. You can even try your hand at creating something special yourself, with workshops led by experienced instructors at venues like Farfield Mill in Sedbergh – there’s everything from music to storytelling.
