Tripadvisor Traveller Rating
372 reviewsWe may be biased but genuinely believe we run watersports from one of the best locations in the Lake District; Grubbins Point on Windermere. From this sheltered bay on the southwest shore, we offer both instructed lessons and board hire.
Stand up paddleboarding has been a fast-growing watersport in the UK and at Graythwaite Adventure, we offer guests instructed lessons to help you hone your skills or experience SUP for the first time. Ours is a fleet of RED boards, arguably the best boards available. We feel no visit to the Lakes is complete without some time on the water and this is an ideal way to do just that. The benefits of an instructed session are that you will master the basic strokes quickly and journey with ease to make the most of your session … it’s likely you’ll spend more time paddling, less time swimming! 😊 Alternatively, you may opt to hire boards instead, without an instructor, allowing you to head off on your own. We’ll help get you on the water, give you tips to get you started and provide water safety cover, so you’ll feel looked after.
Guests to Graythwaite Adventure can enjoy a variety of other awesome land and water-based experiences; 4x4 off-road driving, archery, axe throwing, clay pigeon shooting, bushcraft, kayaking, canoeing and RIB boat tours. Land-based activities are available all year, watersports April to October. Experience : Explore : Escape.
Itinerary
Upon arrival at our Watersports Site, please make use of our free parking before meeting with one of our friendly and experienced instructors at the watersports hub. Following introductions, we’ll kit you out with buoyancy aids and if booked, wetsuits. We provide all the equipment; boards, paddles, and buoyancy aids whether you book a lesson or hire only. The exact content of lessons is tailored to suit you and your party – it’ll include chatting with your instructor, more advanced paddle strokes and journeying, fun games and even some jumping in! As with all our activities, we only offer private experiences meaning we don’t mix bookings, which allows us to concentrate on you and your guest(s) exclusively. Lessons are 1.5 hours, and hires are available for 1-hour, 2-hours, or 4-hours.
