You are here: Home > Things to Do > The Bowman - A Family Friendly Woodland Archery Experience with Green Man Survival
Join Green Man Survival in our private woodland on the shores of Windermere to discover the ancient art of archery. We will learn a little about the history of this primitive skill and have the chance to experience how tricky it must have been for our ancestors to survive and thrive with only a few sticks to get their meal.
Humans have been chucking arrows for nearly 70 000 years, it’s basically in our DNA! Over the course of your experience we will really get to grips with this ancient art and its importance in our history of survival.
We will start on our custom built archery range where with a little practice you will be hitting the target and really honing your aim and form.
Archery can be tiring both physically and mentally so a quick stop at our wilderness camp for a brew and a biccie is a must. And as always, the campfire will be roaring away and ready for a toasted marshmallow or three.
With a bit more practice on the range and learning about judging distance and shooting over rough ground it’s time to head out on the hunt. Don't worry, these animals are only paper and if you would prefer we can swap them for standard archery targets.
The “Primitive Pathway'' is a woodland walk with a difference as we have numerous targets hidden away all over the place! Some are close, some are far and you may well be surprised who you meet on the trail.
As we return we have one last challenge for you and if necessary this may well be the decider on who is the new Robin Hood of the Lakes!
