Rosehill believes that creativity has the power to cultivate kindness.
The KIND project aims to unite communities, support wellbeing, and help to reduce isolation across Whitehaven and beyond.
KIND Creative, Janice Murray, devised the Gift It Forward programme after taking inspiration from her own passion for making handmade gifts.
Each session was a chance for participants to craft and create beautiful and thoughtful objects. The six-week programme saw participants create small works of art that could alleviate stress and promote wellbeing; such as lavender bags, worry beads and dream catchers.
Beyond the beauty of these objects, the project was about bringing communities together through simple acts of kindness. Crafting three pieces in each session; one to keep as an act of self-kindness, one to gifts to someone and one to donate as an act of selfless kindness.
The exhibition contains Janice's example pieces, and the donated gifts made at Greenbank Community Centre as well as the responses to from recipients of the gifts.
