I wanted to get in touch to inform you of our annual Lake District Ultra Challenge on Saturday 7th and Sunday 8th June 2025. This will be the 5th year of the event and will follow a similar format to 2024. The event route is comprised of a looped 100km route starting and finishing in Kendal at Kendal Rugby Club with participants walking up to 100km on public footpaths, rights of way, roads, and pavements. Participants can choose to do shorter routes which include either the 1st half or 2nd half, 1st quarter, a Marathon Challenge or a 10k challenge.
This year in 2024 we have completed 18 different Ultra Challenge events across the UK which are very much charity focused. This year's series raised over £10 million for our charity partners and this year's Lake District Challenge back in June helped raise over £700,000 for our charity partners. Thank you for all your support in helping us achieve this.
2025 - our annual - the main event route goes anti clockwise around Lake Windermere. The route initially heads north through the Longsleddale Valley before heading west going up and over to Ambleside via Troutbeck. The route then turns south and follows the west side of Lake Windermere down to Newby Bridge. The halfway point is located at the YMCA Lakeside. From Newby Bridge the route turns east to Levens via Cartmel and Witherslack. From Levens the route turns north over Scout Scar and back into Kendal to the finish.
The marathon route follows the main route to Rothay Park, Ambleside. From Rothay Park, Ambleside the route diverts away from the main route and follows the 10K route following PROW around Loughrigg Fell. The marathon route diverts away again for 3km skirting the south and southwest edge of Lake Grasmere before merging back in with the 10k route and back to Rothay Park, Ambleside.
