Welcome to a Spring evening Forest Bathing walk! I am a Certified Nature and Forest Therapy Guide and am excited to share forest bathing with you. Forest bathing (or forest therapy) is a slow, gentle, guided walk in nature. It isn't a naturalist exploration and it isn't a rigorous hike. Rather, it is an opportunity to unplug in a peaceful setting with a series of invitations, or prompts, that are designed to help you quiet your mind, awaken your senses, and deepen your connection to yourself, each other, and to the water and woods. We will meet at the obelisk in the square in Broughton-in-Furness and then will meander along the beautiful old railway line, by the ponds and into the woods. The lovely area we will be walking in is part of the Lake District National Park and the route will be between a mile and two miles. There will be times when we will walk or sit quietly alone and times when we'll gather together. We'll end our walk with snacks and a tea using plants foraged from the area.
This event is for people 16 and older.
We will meet around 5:45 pm by the obelisk in the center of the market square in Broughton-in-Furness and head out at 6 pm. Because the walk is leisurely with periods of sitting and standing, make sure to bring enough layers to stay warm if it's chilly out--dress more warmly than if you were on a regular hike. Be prepared for rain if it's in the forecast. If there is lightning, the walk will be canceled. If it's just raining, we will still meet. Forest bathing in the rain can be magical! I also recommend bringing water. Most people find wearing a hat is useful whether it's hot or cold. I will have a few sit pads and I recommend bringing whatever you'd like to sit on that will make you comfortable. Sunset is at 9:30 pm so we shouldn't need flashlights but you might want to bring one just in case. The fee might come up in dollars. You can change the currency to pounds. Please register by 3/27/25. Feel free to reach out with any questions!
