You are here: Home > Accommodation > Braithwaite House Rooms
Braithwaite House is a newly renovated 18th century house, hosting four private en suite apartments, and an old village shop & tea room on the ground floor. Our aim is to pay homage to village life and keep it alive here in Braithwaite; whilst also sharing it with adventurers and visitors to the area.
The Four rooms are each themed around the minerals sourced and found in the local Lake District mines in days gone by; Quartz, Copper, Gold and Cobalt. Each room offers an en suite shower room with locally sourced toiletries, a smart TV with streaming services, a king size bed, coffee and tea making facilities, and village and fell views. Our largest room; the Cobalt Room, also has a small living room and kitchenette.

As you turn into the village of Braithwaite, following the main road (B5292) through the village, pass the caravan park. When you see the bus stop and the first possible fork in the road, head left following the signs to Newlands Valley and Buttermere. At the end of that road is a small stone bridge, turn left over this bridge and Braithwaite House & the Village Shop are immediately in front of you.
Our address is Braithwaite House Rooms, CA12 5ST. Our nearest train station is Penrith, from here you can use the X5 bus to Braithwaite or a local taxi company. If using buses, you can reach us on the X5 and 77A routes.
