Situated conveniently between Cockermouth and Workington, close to the A66, The Melbreak Hotel offers easy access to many of the nearby towns, the Western Lake District and the Solway Coast, which is a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.
Once a farmstead, the 38 en-suite hotel bedrooms are located in converted barns, whilst the main farmhouse now plays host to an elegant lounge, well stocked bar and a busy restaurant. Whilst enjoying a meal, diners can enjoy superb views of the surrounding landscape. The lounge bar and terrace garden, popular with locals and guests alike, is a relaxing place to enjoy a drink or light snack.
The hotel has 6 electric vehicle charging points, a dedicated section for motorbikes and ample parking for other vehicles. We can also provide secure storage for mountain bikes and cycles if requested.
The hotel is perfectly situated to use as a base to discover, explore and take advantage of all the Lake District has to offer, whether that be fell walking, hikes around some of the nearby lakes, something more adventurous such as rock climbing, off-road cycling or paddleboarding, or perhaps just a mooch around the nearby market towns and villages with their quaint gift shops and delicious cafes.
If golf is your thing, the area has plenty of courses to choose from, whether that be a links courses at Silloth on Solway and Seascale, or the nearby course at Workington Golf club, a mere 5 minute drive from the hotel.
During the summer months, the area plays host to many country shows where local crafts, livestock and activities, such as Cumberland Wrestling and Hound Trailing can be enjoyed; alongside music and cinematic events, you are simply spoiled for choice with things to fill your days.
