Discover the rugged beauty of Cumbria’s coastline in the western part of the Lake District, where the mountains meet the sea. These are Cumbria's heartlands, rich with myths, legends and traditions. Here coastal towns and villages offer all kinds of shoreline adventures, whether it's exploring the Roman and Norse history or the wilder sections of the coast. Section 3 starts in Haverigg, continuing along the A595 toward Ravenglass. From here follow the B344 for a short journey to the pretty seaside resort of Seascale.
Drive Waypoints
- 1 Follow the A595 from Haverigg, towards Ravenglass.
- 2 Continue along the A595 toward Ravenglass.
- 3 Continue along the A595 toward Ravenglass.
- 4 Turn off into the Main Street and arrive in Ravenglass.
- 5 The car park in the centre of Ravenglass village offers a great place from which to explore. Just across the road is the heritage steam Ravenglass and Eskdale Railway.
- 6 Retrace your way back on to the A595. With so much on your doorstep, you will loath to move on. However, it's well worth the short journey on to Seascale.
- 7 Continue along the A595.
- 8 After a short while take the B5344 towards Seascale.
- 9 Continue along the B5344
- 10 Arrive in Seascale. With a stunning beach and walking trails that lead into the nearby countryside. The seafront has a jetty, a fort complete with cannon and fully rigged mast, plus a human sundial. Its a great place to potter about, enjoy the odd ice cream (or two) and even partake in a round of golf.
