Long Distance Cycle Routes

Some of England’s most scenic long-distance cycling trails make their way through the Lake District and Cumbria. You can cycle the length of Hadrian’s Wall, explore the lesser-known highlights of Cumbria along the 260-mile Cumbrian Cycle Way; or enjoy your own two-wheeled adventure all along Morecambe Bay.

Lakes & Dales Cycle Route

This spectacular circuit encompasses some of the lesser-known corners of Cumbria away from the crowds.
Bay Cycle Way

From Walney Island, Barrow-in-Furness to Glass Dock, Lancashire, the award-winning Bay Cycle Way (NCN 700) is 130km of relatively flat cycle routes around the Bay.
C2C cycle route

140 miles cross-country route linking Whitehaven or Workington with Sunderland or Newcastle. One of the UK's most popular challenge cycle routes.
Hadrian's Cycleway

The 174 mile Hadrian's Cycleway snakes through the entire World Heritage Site. It's a cycleway that knits together existing shorter cycle routes, quiet roads and off-road tracks. Clearly signposted, the Cycleway takes you near many major Roman sites and other attractions are just a short turn of the wheel from the main route. As well as magnificent coastal views and breathtaking countryside you’ll see the famous wall itself, Roman forts and museums, quaint villages and attractive market towns, all set in a World Heritage Site.
Walney to Wear or Whitby

This route presents a couple of exciting cross-country options – this fairly new coast to coast route takes you across the North Pennines.
