Contours Holidays offer three trail running routes across the Lake District National Park:
From St Bees to Robin Hood’s Bay, navigate the landscapes of Northern England from Coast to Coast. Dog-friendly itineraries are available.
The trail encompasses the rocky Lake District hills, the vast expanse of the Pennines, and the wilderness of the North York Moors. With few waymarks and hill descents that require a compass, the Coast to Coast favours seasoned outdoorspeople and will test your ability to navigate. If you enjoy an added sense of exploration, this is the run for you.
Contours Holidays offer the following tours along the Coast to Coast:
Coast to Coast Trail Run — Full Route (190 miles over 5–11 days)
Coast to Coast Trail Run — West Section (St Bees to Kirkby Stephen — 83 miles over 2–5 days)
Coast to Coast Trail Run — East Section (Kirkby Stephen to Robin Hood’s Bay — 107 miles over 3–6 days)
Coast to Coast Trail Run — Short Break (Ennerdale Bridge to Patterdale — 32 miles over 2 days)
Explore the Lake District from Ulverston to Carlisle while avoiding the sharpest climbs.
Following mainly low-level paths along valleys and over passes, the Cumbria Way travels 73 miles over 2–5 days and provides an excellent way for runners to enjoy the delights of the Lake District without the worry of more technical or high-level terrain. It is therefore a great choice for those wanting a challenge to move their running on from more urban, low level-based trails.
Starting and ending in Ravenglass, the Lakeland Round Trail Run was designed by Contours to allow keen runners to circle the iconic Lake District at their own pace. Race along an 85-mile circuit over the course of 3–6 days, darting through valleys, over mountain passes and across expansive moors, taking in the diverse and spectacular landscapes of this exceptional National Park.
This route has plenty of terrain changes and undulations to test your endurance, while also passing through welcoming towns and villages to keep you powering on. Dog-friendly holidays are available for the Lakeland Round.
