A Celebration Reading from the Poetry Business International Book & Pamphlet Competition.
Hosted by Michael McGregor, Director of The Wordsworth Trust, and introduced by Ann and Peter Sansom of the Poetry Business.
We are delighted to invite you to celebration readings from the 2024 International Book & Pamphlet Competition, judged by Jane Clarke. Always a highlight in the poetry calendar, this promises to be another memorable event with engaging readings by the two winners Caroline Bracken and Jen Feroze, as well as other outstanding poems from Kate Rutter, James Appleby, Ger Duffy and Derval Turbidy.
Caroline Bracken, reading from Boy/Mother:
'Boy/Mother is a deeply moving exploration of a mother's relationship with her son who has a long-term mental illness. In innovative forms the poems evoke the day-to-day depredations of illness, psychiatric treatment and societal attitudes and yet the thread that runs through the collection is love.' – Jane Clarke
Jen Feroze reading from A Dress With Deep Pockets:
'I so enjoyed the verve, colour and confidence of these poems. These are accomplished poems of womanhood, motherhood and friendships from a poet who doesn't forget the reader; hugely enjoyable.' – Deborah Alma
