The Buckstones Jum and Waterfalls swim takes us just down the road from our Ambleside base to the hamlet of Rydal. This is a wonderful hike up to the now famous Buckstones Jum and the waterfalls that lie downstream. A "Jum" is an old dialect word for a stretch of beck that never freezes over. The pool below the fall at Buckstones is deep and clear. Full of green pebbles and golden trout. The falls and pools that run downstream are just as interesting and we'll take the time to explore them on this trip.

This is an adventure for the young at heart, with a fascination for water and the natural world. We will spend the morning dipping into pools, exploring, and drinking tea. There is no finer way of passing the time in our opinion!

This adventure swim is an easy-paced and enjoyable day out; suitable for anyone who has a love of swimming and walking. As ever, our experienced Swim the Lakes swim guides will be there providing safety cover, local knowledge, and plenty of tea and cake.

Swim Ability & Fitness Level: Suitable for beginners & intermediate capable swimmers with some outdoor swimming experience. Hiking will be easy-paced over about 4km of undulating and uneven tracks and trails.
