1520 reviewsThe George Hotel is steeped in history and is situated in the centre of Penrith, a bustling market town famous for its ideal location at the heart of Cumbria, and on the edge of Unesco World Heritage site, The Lake District.
This 43 bedroomed Grade 2 Georgian listed building still today hosts much of the charm and quirky nature it would have in time gone by. Since opening its doors in 1597, this hotel has been a symbol of timeless hospitality which proudly continues this tradition today.
The George Hotel offers a wide and varied menu to suit all palettes, and changes with the season, from small plates to our well known signature dish our homemade 'George Burger'.
Bar 1597 joined 'The George Family' 2 years ago, and hosts a wide selection of Local Ales and Gin brewed from local distilleries.
A very popular destination for our Corporate clients, situated on the 'M6 Corridor' easily accessible via Car / Train.
The George offers 3 meeting rooms, varying in size and each has a unique feel. 24HR and DDR are offered at a competitive rate, each rate including Tech equipment complimentary.
Onsite car parking available - £3.00 fee applies
At The George Hotel, well-behaved dogs are warmly welcomed in our outdoor spaces and dog-friendly rooms. There's a £15 per night per dog fee.
