You are here: Home > Things to Do > Black Cat Distillery
Black Cat Distillery operates out of a stunning fortified and walled Medieval Hall at Brougham. Our gin is infused with the echoes of the past that permeate the very walls! We distill, fill and label our products on site. While space can be a challenge, we seem to manage even with our beautiful 50 litre copper pot still that sits comfortably in the corner. It’s kept very busy producing our Black Cat range and we are kept very busy keeping it nice and polished, you wouldn’t believe the amount of Brasso we go through!
Visitors are always welcome to pop in and see the distillery in action! We’ll give you a tour, talk you through the process and even let you sample a gin or two. Sounds Purrfect right?
Heaven forbid, you grow tired of tasting our wonderful collection, there is always the opportunity to make your own! Vouchers for our Gin Making Workshops are currently available and the perfect opportunity to treat yourself or a loved one (or both!)
Can’t think why you wouldn't want to come see us when you're in the area, but if lovely gin is not enough to tempt you then you should check out the beautiful grounds of Brougham Hall and all the other artisan producers that make their home here. We house potters, a blacksmith, a screen printer, a silversmith, a wood turner and a carpenter! These studios are always happy for visitors and you can expand your horizons by booking a course or two in blacksmithing, pot throwing and gin distilling. The cafe is always waiting with coffee, cakes and sandwiches! La dolce vita has never been so easily reached! Add us to your bucket list and discover new passions at Black Cat Distillery and Brougham Hall!
If you would like to make a bottle of your own Lake District Gin why not join one of our gin making workshops to learn how to make a great bottle of craft gin. We will guide you through the process whilst still keeping to your signature flavours. Whilst your craft gin is distilling we will feed you a Cumbrian Charcuterie and Cheese Board as we explain the history behind the Black Cat and the gin making process. Don’t worry as we’ll ensure there is always the opportunity to have a gin in your hand. Why not show-off your recipe to your friends and they can taste your great handmade artisan gin.
