Arrive at Cumbria Crystal
Cumbria Crystal is England’s last working crystal glassware factory. A team of 22 highly skilled artisans are committed to creating crystal using techniques that have barely changed since the Roman era. Cumbria Crystal strives to produce the highest quality products so it is hardly surprising it is the crystal of choice for the British Embassies, many Royal Families and Luxury Stores worldwide. It has been showcased extensively in Downton Abbey, James Bond and many period dramas.
A 20 minute drive from Ulverston is the medieval village of Cartmel, which has a rich heritage with plenty to explore. At the heart of the village sits a 12th Century priory surrounded by lovely cafes and shops, most significantly the Cartmel Village Shop which sells the world famous Sticky Toffee Pudding. One of the prettiest villages in all of Cumbria, Cartmel is a picture-postcard destination, with a delightful olde-worlde feel. Its ancient racecourse still hosts one of England’s most famous racing festivals. Cartmel boasts a number of delightful eateries, including two Michelin Star restaurants – L’Enclume and Rogan & Co.
