You are here: Home > Things to Do > Quirky Workshops at Greystoke Craft Garden & Barns
You are warmly invited to enjoy an informal & relaxing day with others at our old Cumbrian farmhouse in Greystoke discovering new skills from experienced artists & professionals in friendly surroundings.
Quirky Workshop Days primarily take place in the 'Swallow Barn' - a new, spacious and airy, 60m2 listed workshop space which was restored during lockdown. With oak floor and an open ceiling, the many rooflights provide a lovely, naturally well lit space and also a good airflow – it makes a perfect indoor crafting studio. There is comfortable spacing for 8 or 9 tables, 2 wash hand basins, numerous sanitising points, stairs up and down and one way traffic where required. A deep clean of the rooms, equipment and resources used occurs before and after each workshop and often during as well.
In addition, there’s a ‘live stream’ filming of tutor’s demonstrations, projecting all previous ‘gather round’ moments to a large screen which is viewable by students from the safety of their desks throughout the day.
Our Longbow, Pizza Ovens, Raku, Furniture Painting, Wood Carving, Blacksmithing and Stone Carving courses will all continue to take place outside in dedicated areas of the garden, with shelter available if needed.
All day workshops include a lovely two course lunch, fresh coffees etc and farmhouse Aga scones at the end of the day. Lunch is served on trays to be taken in the garden (under gazebos if needed), or indoors in the smaller original Quirky studio or other areas of our stone buildings.
Cookery Days and all previous workshop lunches that took place in our farmhouse kitchen, sadly can’t be offered in the current climate.
We look forward to welcoming you here and in the meantime, please do stay safe and well.
