
Creative writing with Emma Thompson – All about winter – creative writing and winter readings – POETRY

Immerse yourself in the world of winter poetry with Emma and like-minded writers at The George Hotel in Penrith.
In this class, Emma will help you to explore ways of getting into writing poetry, starting with creating 'found' poetry and reading published poems. She will help you find inspiration by explaining how to create your own winter mood board, and you might use this in the class as a springboard for your writing.
There will be opportunities throughout the morning for you to develop your confidence and skills and write poetry on the theme of winter.
Who would enjoy this course and where is it?
The class is open to everyone - those new to creative writing as well as people with some experience who are looking to develop their skills. It will take place in The Regency Room at the 400-year old Grade 2 listed George Hotel in Penrith.
Complementary tea, coffee and biscuits will be available in the room on arrival and during the 10-15 minute break at 11.30am.

You are welcome to write on a device such as a laptop or a notepad/paper and your favourite pen or pencil.
Emma is a teacher with 27 years' experience and is passionate about helping people develop their creativity, through creative discussion and writing.
The morning will be informal and supportive and an opportunity for you to meet like-minded people.

All about winter – Creative writing and winter readings – FICTION
Immerse yourself in creative writing and fiction on the theme of winter with Emma and like-minded people at The George Hotel in Penrith.
In this class, Emma will help you to write creatively on the theme of winter. She will help you to feel inspired through guided writing exercises, music and images.
By reading published fiction on the theme of winter, Emma will help you understand how it is crafted, while looking closely at how the writer embeds the theme of winter.
There will be opportunities throughout the afternoon for you to write a variety of pieces on the theme of winter, developing your skills and confidence.
