November is the perfect time to enjoy our wonderful county from the cosy windows of a pub, bar, café or restaurant. As the nights start to draw in it’s time to get warm and cosy indoors and tuck into the tasty treats for which Cumbria has become synonymous.
Shop for treats including jams, relishes and chutneys at Hawkshead Relish, follow your nose into Grasmere for some of the famous Grasmere Gingerbread or grab a bottle or two of Gin from one of our many local distillers including Lakes Distillery and Shed One Distillery.
If it’s award-winning cosy cafes with a view you’re after then how about Force Café in Ambleside located above the picturesque Stock Ghyll Force or the delectable Lingholm Kitchen on the Lingholm Estate, where they specialise in dishes created from their home grown produce.
For the ultimate in autumn/winter cosy dining, it’s hard to beat a Cumbrian county pub to enjoy a feast or classic Lake District Sunday Roast after a bracing walk or day out in the countryside and we have these in abundance right across the county. Take a look at our pub listings for inspiration: Pub Food & Gastro Pubs - Visit Lake District
Did you know Cumbria also has the most number of Michelin star hotels and restaurants outside of the capital? We’re home to 13 in total ranging from the likes of L’Enclume in the south to Farlam Hall in the north of the county. Each offers up something a little different and an opportunity to revel in the indulgence of a fine dining experience.
Don’t forget to keep your eyes peeled for an array of food and drink themed festivals, events and experiences throughout November. A range of these are highlighted below and further details can be found by visiting What's On in the Lake District and Cumbria | Visit Lake District:
