You are here: Home > Things to Do > Guided Canoe Trip to ‘Wild Cat Island’ on Coniston Water with Path to Adventure
Explore one of the Lake District’s famous lakes, Coniston Water, and see the magnificent scenery from a canoe.
We'll tailor the day to suit you - whether it’s a fun day of games, exploring the lake and splashing with the whole family or a relaxing scenic journey with friends.
What will we see?
We’ll stop along the way to visit hidden coves and the remote island known as Peel Island, or, more famously as ‘Wild Cat Island’ which was featured in the book and film 'Swallows and Amazons’. Paddle your canoe into the ‘Hidden Harbour’, explore the island and stand on ‘Lookout Point’ for amazing views out into the lake!
Canoeing on the lake is a great way to see the abundant wildlife and if you are really lucky, you’ll get a glimpse of Coniston Water’s resident otters!
How many people fit into a canoe?
Our canoes are designed to fit two adults and a small child or even a dog! If you have a number of small children, or you’re not too confident on the water - not to worry - we can join two canoes together to make a super stable and easy-to-paddle canoe raft. Fun for everyone.
You'll be coached by an experienced qualified instructor who will equip you with everything you need to have a safe and amazing adventure. Beginners are very welcome.
We also offer:
Canoe and Bushcraft trips on Coniston Water and trips for larger groups on Lake Windermere and Wastwater in the Western Lake District.
